Where to Stay in Jamaica: 4 Luxury Resorts for Honeymoons, Families & Golf Getaways
Turquoise water, incredible food, lush green mountains, and some of the warmest people you'll ever meet. Jamaica has a way of making you feel at home almost immediately.
I've had the opportunity to visit several incredible properties across the island, including Jamaica Inn, GoldenEye, Round Hill Resort and Villas, and The Tryall Club. Each offered a unique glimpse into Jamaican hospitality, and each left me with a different set of favorite memories.
The hard part isn't deciding whether to visit Jamaica. It's deciding where to stay.
While visiting hotels across the island, I quickly realized that each property had its own personality. Some felt romantic and secluded, perfect for honeymooners. Others were buzzing with activities for families or offered enough golf, tennis, and watersports to keep even the most active travelers busy. A few were so peaceful that they practically forced you to slow down and embrace island time. And some managed to combine all of those elements in thoughtful ways.
If you're wondering where to stay in Jamaica, these four resorts are a great place to start.
Jamaica Inn
Best For: Honeymooners, Families, and Friend Groups
If your version of luxury is understated elegance, personalized service, and one of the most beautiful beaches in Jamaica, Jamaica Inn should be at the top of your list.
Located in Ocho Rios, this iconic property has perfected the art of barefoot luxury. The atmosphere is refined without feeling stuffy, making it equally appealing for couples celebrating a honeymoon, families creating lasting memories, and friend groups looking for a Caribbean escape.
Treatment room and view at the spa at Jamaica Inn
One of the things I love most about Jamaica Inn is how effortlessly it allows guests to create the vacation they're looking for. Families can spend their days together enjoying water activities and beach time, while couples can retreat to quiet corners of the property for a more romantic experience.
The resort's oceanfront spa is a standout feature. Perched above the Caribbean Sea, treatments are accompanied by sea breezes and panoramic ocean views that immediately encourage relaxation. Trust me, the massage is worth it, especially with the tropical breeze and ocean waves just beside you.
Beyond the spa, guests can enjoy complimentary non-motorized watersports, kayaking, paddleboarding, snorkeling, croquet, yoga classes, and easy access to nearby excursions. One of the biggest advantages of staying here is its proximity to Dunn's River Falls, one of Jamaica's most iconic attractions and an absolute must-visit.
Beachside reading and relaxation
Dining here feels equally thoughtful, with fresh seafood, locally inspired cuisine, and oceanfront settings that make lingering over dinner part of the experience.
And the proof is in the people. Jamaica Inn has been family owned and operated by the Morrow family for more than 60 years, and that sense of care can be felt throughout the property. The average staff member has been with the resort for 15 years, with some team members serving guests for more than 40 years.
That kind of longevity is rare in hospitality, and it shows. There is a warmth and pride in every interaction that makes you feel less like a guest and more like part of the family.
In a destination filled with luxury resorts, that kind of authentic connection is surprisingly rare and one of the reasons Jamaica Inn has built such a loyal guest experience.

GoldenEye
Best for: Honeymooners, Adventure Travelers, Privacy Seekers, and Groups
There are luxury resorts, and then there are places with a story.
GoldenEye is the former home of Ian Fleming, the author of James Bond, and from the moment you arrive, you'll understand why he chose this particular slice of paradise. The property feels worlds away from everyday life, blending seamlessly into lagoons, beaches, and tropical jungle.
Lagoon Cottage view at GoldenEye
The wow factor at GoldenEye is immediate. Upon arrival, many guests find themselves simply stopping and taking it all in. It's one of those rare places that photographs beautifully but somehow feels even more impressive in person.
What makes GoldenEye unique is its connection to nature. Rather than towering hotel buildings, accommodations are thoughtfully woven throughout the landscape, creating a feeling of privacy and discovery.
For honeymooners, it offers some of the most romantic accommodations in the Caribbean. For groups, it provides something even more special: the opportunity to stay together while maintaining privacy. Certain villa configurations can essentially create your own private neighborhood within the property, making it ideal for milestone birthdays, celebrations, and destination gatherings.
Guests can spend their days snorkeling, kayaking, paddleboarding, swimming in the private lagoon, joining a yoga class, fitting in a workout at the fitness center, relaxing on secluded beaches, or unwinding at the spa. Multiple restaurants and bars throughout the property showcase Jamaican flavors while taking advantage of the stunning natural surroundings.
One of the most magical experiences is attending a full moon bonfire. Sitting beneath the stars with the sound of the Caribbean nearby is exactly the type of memory that transforms a vacation into something unforgettable.

Round Hill Hotel & Villas
Best For: Couples, Families, Tennis Enthusiasts, and Sophisticated Travelers
Round Hill possesses a timeless quality that's increasingly difficult to find.
Located just outside Montego Bay, the property has attracted discerning travelers, celebrities, and loyal repeat guests for decades. Yet despite its reputation, it never feels pretentious. Instead, it feels elegant, welcoming, and effortlessly Jamaican.
Exterior of a private villa at Round Hill
What makes Round Hill especially appealing is the variety of accommodations available. Couples can enjoy a traditional resort stay in the Pineapple House guestrooms and suites, while families and groups often opt for one of the private villas, which range from two to six bedrooms. The villas have hosted their fair share of notable guests over the years, including John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy, who honeymooned in Villa 25.
I stayed in one of the villas, and it quickly became one of my favorite experiences in Jamaica. Mornings started with a magazine-worthy breakfast spread prepared by the villa staff, enjoyed with sweeping ocean views and absolutely no rush to be anywhere. The staff quickly learned our preferences and seemed to anticipate what we needed before we even asked. It was the kind of place that made me want to extend my trip rather than head home.
It's easy to understand why so many families return year after year.
The resort's design is another reason guests fall in love with Round Hill. Ralph Lauren personally designed many of the guestrooms and Pineapple House suites, and his influence can be felt throughout the property. Crisp white walls, navy accents, natural textures, and timeless Caribbean details create an atmosphere that feels sophisticated without ever feeling formal.

Beyond the accommodations, guests have access to a private beach, an oceanfront infinity pool, complimentary watersports, yoga programming, a fitness center, and a full-service spa housed in a beautifully restored 18th-century plantation house. The spa itself perfectly captures the spirit of Round Hill: elegant, authentic, and deeply connected to its surroundings.
For active travelers, Round Hill is home to one of Jamaica's premier tennis programs. Professional instruction is available for players of all levels, making it a favorite among tennis enthusiasts.
Families are especially well served here. The complimentary Pineapple Kids Club offers supervised activities for younger children, while the 7-Up Club provides programming geared toward older children and teens. Parents can enjoy a spa treatment, a leisurely lunch, or time at the beach knowing their children are having just as much fun.
What stayed with me most, however, was the people here too.
Many members of the Round Hill team have spent decades at the resort, creating a remarkable sense of continuity and care. You immediately notice the difference. Service feels deeply personal rather than transactional.
I left Round Hill feeling less like I was checking out of a hotel and more like I was saying goodbye to friends.
In a world where luxury often focuses on facilities and amenities, Round Hill reminds travelers that hospitality is ultimately about people.

I stayed in Villa 16 and couldn't recommend it more!
The Tryall Club
Best For: Multi-Generational Families, Friend Groups, and Golfers
For travelers who want space, privacy, and access to one of Jamaica's premier golf experiences, The Tryall Club offers something completely different from a traditional resort stay.
Dining setup at private villa at The Tryall Club
Rather than booking individual hotel rooms, guests stay in private villas ranging from one to ten bedrooms. These aren't simply oversized hotel suites. They're fully staffed homes complete with spacious living areas, full kitchens, private outdoor space, pools in many villas, and plenty of room for everyone to spread out. It's one of the few places where generations can travel together comfortably while still having privacy when they want it.
The sense of freedom here is one of the property's greatest strengths. Guests use golf carts to move throughout the expansive 2,200-acre property, creating an atmosphere that feels more like staying in an exclusive Caribbean community than a resort. You'll spend your days moving between your villa, the golf course, the beach club, and dinner, all at your own pace.
Many villas include a dedicated team of staff, often including a cook, housekeeper, butler, laundress, and gardener. The result is a vacation that feels incredibly effortless and more like you're visiting your own Caribbean home than staying at a resort.
Golf, however, is what puts Tryall in a league of its own.
Waterside dining at The Tryall Club on the private beach
The 18-hole championship course was originally designed by Ralph Plummer, one of the most respected golf course architects of his era, and has since been thoughtfully enhanced while preserving his vision. Playing 6,836 yards from the championship tees with a course rating of 74.8 and a slope rating of 140, the course offers enough challenge for serious golfers while remaining approachable for those who simply want to enjoy a memorable round in paradise. Ocean views appear throughout the round, trade winds add a strategic element to nearly every hole, and historic features, including a centuries-old stone aqueduct that players hit through on the signature 7th hole, make it unlike any other course in the Caribbean.
Beyond golf, the amenities are extensive. Guests have access to a private beach club, water sports, tennis courts, pickleball, fitness facilities, spa services, children's programming, and multiple dining venues throughout the property, including a beachside restaurant with incredible sunset views. Whether your ideal vacation includes a tee time, a massage, a tennis lesson, or simply a good book by the water, Tryall makes it easy.
It's one of my favorite recommendations for large families, milestone celebrations, golf trips, and friend groups because everyone can enjoy the vacation differently while still spending meaningful time together.
